The project
An unofficial web design concept for Dave, created to explore how his music, visual identity and digital presence could come together in a more focused experience. This is a self-initiated concept created solely to showcase my design approach and is not affiliated with or commissioned by Dave or his team.
The concept
Exploring a different digital home for an artist
The idea was to explore what a more considered digital home for Dave could look and feel like. Rather than building a conventional artist website, I wanted the experience to put the music and visual identity at the centre while still giving space to the different parts of his work.
The concept was approached as a visual exercise in restraint, using strong imagery, typography and motion to create something that feels connected to the artist without competing with the music itself.
Creative direction
Letting the music shape the experience
The visual direction took cues from Dave's existing identity and the atmosphere around his music, while giving the website its own point of view. Large imagery, deliberate typography and a darker visual language create a more immersive environment without relying on unnecessary effects.
The goal wasn't to redesign Dave's identity, but to explore how the character already associated with the artist could translate into a digital experience.
Design & build
Turning the concept into an interactive experience
I designed and built the experience around the parts of an artist's presence that matter most: music, releases, visuals and story. Navigation stays deliberately simple, allowing the content to remain the focus while transitions and interactions add movement where they make sense.
The build also gave me room to experiment with layout, motion and responsive behaviour, making sure the visual direction carried through across different screen sizes rather than only working as a desktop concept.
The outcome
A self-initiated exploration of an artist website
The finished concept is less about proposing an official website and more about showing how I approach digital experiences when there is room to explore. It brings together art direction, interface design and frontend development in a single piece built around a real artist and an existing visual identity.
The project became an opportunity to push beyond a typical portfolio layout and treat the website itself as part of the creative work.
